Pakistan Floods: More than 33 million people have been affected
Extremely heavy rainfall in Pakistan has resulted in catastrophic flash flooding leaving one-third of the country underwater.
According to local authorities the death toll has surpassed 1,100, with over 1,500 injured and millions displaced.
Described as a “climate catastrophe” by the UN Secretary General, the floods have left over 6 million people in urgent need of humanitarian aid.
Many parts of Pakistan have become inaccessible, and rescuers are struggling to evacuate thousands of stranded people from affected areas. Balochistan and Sindh provinces are the hardest hit areas.
Islamic Relief Pakistan is responding, providing vital humanitarian aid. Please donate generously and help save lives.
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit eastern Afghanistan this morning, killing at least 920 people — although the death toll is likely to rise over the coming days. Homes have been completely destroyed and families are believed to be trapped under the rubble, with hundreds of people injured. Many people were asleep when the earthquake struck. Other critical infrastructure such as roads and power supplies have also been badly damaged. An Islamic Relief response team is heading to Paktika province, the worst affected area, and will initially provide food aid and cash so that people can buy supplies. Emergency shelter is also needed for people who have lost their homes. The worst affected areas are remote rural communities, many of which are hard to reach.

The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided. (Quran – C9, V18).
The Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah (from his own wealth), Allah will build a house for him in Paradise.” (Agreed upon, Sahih-ul-Bakhari No.: 439, Sahih Muslim No.: 533).
